The viewer of André Butzer’s painting is struck by unpredictability. Despite the exploration of various itineraries and varied plastic routes, most of them defined by utterly precise style and fabrication, his works act as ever-changing and unexpected associations. This time André Butzer presents five recent paintings, from which we can abstract certain basic clues about his whole artistic journey and, at the same time, take a look into his future exploring formulae.
Notwithstanding several essential references of his works, to Romanticism and Situationism considered in the light of the current times, the consumer society, Disfiguration or the combination of High and Low Culture, elements that are still persistent in his paintings, his new productions undoubteldy anticipates innovation stemming from new sources and motives we have never seen before. The result is a new pictorical dimension portraying in itself the directions and meanings of his work.
