Kiko Pérez
Biography
Kiko Pérez (Vigo,1982) lives and works in Madrid.
Through his works, the artist reflects themes as consumer society, production methods, mass culture, shop windows or advertisements; but also domestic and urban furniture, the idea of style (or lack of it), a sense of humour, and the visual and sonic world of a generation born in the eighties that created part of its life-long identity in the nineties. In his new paintings, the making, the sense of craft, and the material and manual production of sculptural artefacts or pictorial objects on wood characterised the artist’s research.
He has been an artist-in-residence at El Granero (CHARCO Project), León de Guanajuato, México (2019), El Ranchito, Matadero Madrid, Spain-Finland (2014); Rogaland Art Center, Stävanger, Norway (2009) and Bilboarte, Bilbao (2009).
