El intruso. Cabos sueltos
The intruder*/ Loose ends
“My work never works in isolation, but finds its meaning or interest in permanent dialogue with other works, contexts and stories. It works like a palimpsest that at the same time preserves the line of a previous work and proposes a new composition, oscillating between endless repetition and speculation about what has been omitted.
This exhibition has its origin in another.
Also in a letter written a long time ago. In the year 1986.
The sender is Heinrich Ehrhardt, a friend and gallery owner of Günther Förg, whose last exhibition in Madrid concluded a few days ago. My friend Narelle Jubelin, a weaver of stories, also shows me some reproductions of the suite of photographs that Förg made of Mies’s Barcelona Pavilion. The scale and black color of these documents reinforce the idea of elegy present in all of his work, as well as a subtle awareness of mortality.
The artist is no longer present.
And his work continues to circulate in various contexts, between friendship and expense.
Thanks to a series of spiky works, a modest coda to the Günther Förg exhibition is now proposed. Or the beginning of another story.
From Madrid”.
